At the Cherry Blossoms

Cherry Blossoms line the basin
The cherry blossoms in downtown D.C. have reached their peak bloom, weeks before they did last year. We took the Metro down and met my dad for a lunch at Potbelly, and then walked around the tourist-filled tidal basin. The Cherry Blossom Festival had just started, and will continue into mid-April, though the trees will turn green in about a week or two. It was cloudy at first, but when we passed the Jefferson Memorial, the sun came out. It made for a beautiful spring day (70s). It was less crowded for a while near the FDR Memorial, allowing us to truly enjoy the trees and watch the boaters on the basin. Last year, we went on a cold, ugly, and rainy day. We are thankful that we had good weather today!
